“Nesbø’s storytelling abilities are incomparable. Nemesis is crime novel as art form and great entertainment.”

—USA Today

The #1 international bestseller from one of the most celebrated crime writers in Europe—the New York Times bestselling author of The Snowman—Jo Nesbø’s extraordinary thriller Nemesis features Norwegian homicide detective Harry Hole, “the next in the long line of great noir crime detectives,” (San Diego Union-Tribune) in a case as dark and chilling as an Oslo winter’s night. The second Harry Hole novel to be released in America—following the critically acclaimed publication of The Redbird—Nemesis is a superb and surprising nail-biter that places Jo Nesbø in the company of Lawrence Block, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly, and other top masters of crime fiction. Nesbø has already received the Glass Key Award and the Booksellers’ Prize, Norway’s most prestigious literary awards. Nemesis is proof that there are certainly more honors in this extraordinary writer's future.

Nemesis

Another gripping thriller in the series with an unpredictable finish.

Nemesis

I enjoyed all the characters and even when I had to go back to keep track of each one I always liked the pace of the book and the details it provided. A good crime story !

EmilyGilmour

A lot of twists and turns

Good detective story with a lot of twists - some a bit unrealistic, but hey, this is fiction after all. Entertaining. Good character development.

Okay book

I enjoyed this book but not as much as I did Redbreast. There seemed to be quite a build up but then a let down. The Anna suicide and Rakel not seeming to either know or mind that Harry was sleeping with Anna while Rakel was in Russia didn't make sense. Also the story line with Raksol being in prison and Harry borrowing money from him not to mention Raksol's contacts in Russia fixing the custody was all quite unbelievable.

Great Story

I started with the first book available in the US (Redbreast). That was a really good story that had some odd translations. Now that I've gotten used to the the writers style, I'm really enjoying the way that he plays with phrases and develops scenes. In all a really good book and I've already started the third (which so far is just as enjoyable!)

Nemesis

Bore!

Sommersboy

Too much enjoyment in his own words

A complex story is often very interesting and rewarding. In this book, the author appears to revel in complexity for complexity's sake. Nesbo tries to too cute and wonderful. It's not necessary to show us, the readers, how great a writer you are over and over again. This could have been a great novel. It isn't. It was spoiled by an author attempting to "show off". Too bad.

Hankanon

A real disappointment

The concept is great and the novel opened with promise; however, the translation is very poor. The transitions from scene to scene are difficult to follow without the help of transitional words. It is sometimes difficult to work out if the action is taking place in the past, present, or future. The really gripping aspect of the novel is the crooked cop side-story that is sadly underdeveloped, perhaps to be explored in a future novel. As for purchase of said future novel- only with a different translator.
